The 2017 Naoussa is a Xinomavro, of course, aged for 12 months in well-used French oak. It comes in at 12.9% alcohol. With this vintage, Boutari revives its original, old-style label as 'the first ever bottled red Greek wine.' It's very atmospheric. The wine is pretty good too. I'd say this is the best since the 2013, granting that they aren't all here together, which makes it a nice bargain. It's beautifully textured and approachable, and it has some of that Xinomavro earthiness. The power is tamed, though. This is a relatively refined Naoussa, not an older and more rustic style. That's not to say there isn't a little bite on the finish, but the tannins are rather ripe. This is lovely. It should age well. The price is pretty nice too.
