A fine vintage with which to celebrate Seghesio's 125th winemaking aniversary, this 2020 zinfandel is a robust and satisfying red wine, above all balanced even with 15% alcohol, managing the challenging task of maintaining equilibirium without green or raisined fruit components, something Segehsio does especially well. Tannins are properly grippy but without astringence, and acids contain the billowing dark fruit and strawberry pie filling alongside gentle oak spice flavours. The finish lingers impressive, carried on alcohol vapors - be sure to serve lightly chilled - 17-18ºC, to freshen the ensemble. Best 2022-2026. Tasted August 2022. Score - 91.
